Bon Cook IV Hit, Killed by Car on Hwy 249 in NW Harris County

Bon Cook IV Killed in NW Harris County Pedestrian Accident on Highway 249 at West Mount Houston Road

Harris County, Texas (April 8, 2023) – A pedestrian was fatally hit by a car Thursday morning while pushing a cart in northwest Harris County, according to the Texas DPS.

The deadly accident happened around 6:22 a.m., April 6, in the 2600 block of West Mount Houston Road and Highway 249.

DPS said Bon Cook IV was pushing a pulling a luggage tote behind him heading eastbound on the highway near the right westbound lane and the improved shoulder. He failed to yield the right of way to traffic on the road and was struck by a 2008 Ford Escape, which was heading westbound in the right lane on West Mount Houston.

Cook was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lopez stayed at the scene after the crash and showed no signs of intoxication or impairment.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
