Brandon Paul Lumpkin Killed in Mentone Two-Vehicle Crash on CR 300

Mentone, Texas (April 3, 2023) – One person was killed Friday night in a two-vehicle crash just 13 miles northwest of Mentone, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 9:01 p.m., March 31, on CR 300.

DPS said Brandon Paul Lumpkin, 34, from Searcy, Arkansas, was driving southeast while Ivan Rodolfo Palombarini, 44, from Magnolia, Texas, was driving his trailer southeast, preparing to turn left into a private drive.

Lumpkin started to pass Palombarini in a no-passing zone. Palombarini began turning, and Lumpkin steered back into the southbound lane and struck the rear of the trailer.

Lumpkin was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other details were available.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
