Brenna McClaran Killed in Van Zandt County Two-Vehicle Crash on SH 19

Van Zandt County, Texas (November 2, 2021) – One person was killed Friday afternoon in a head-on collision in Van Zandt County, according to the troopers.

The crash happened around 2:00 p.m., October 29, on State Highway 19.

Troopers said a 2016 Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound on the highway when it passed a vehicle on the shoulder. The Corolla driver then lost control of the car, traveled into the northbound lane, and crashed head-on into a 2020 Freightliner truck-tractor towing a semi-trailer.

The Corolla driver, Brenna McClaran, 33, of Arlington, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Freightliner driver, Charles Hand Jr., 58, of Kennesaw, GA, was uninjured in the crash.

The troopers are investigating the crash.
