Orange County, Texas (August 3, 2023) – The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the man who died following a traffic crash last week in Orange County as 30-year-old Brenton Vaughan of Bridge City.

The deadly crash occurred at the intersection of Texas 62, just south of Interstate 10, on July 29.

DPS said a 2024 Peterbilt truck semi-trailer pulled out from Pilot Travel Center and at the intersection of Texas 62 when a Dodge Challenger struck it. The Dodge went under the truck.

Vaughan, the driver of the Dodge, died at the scene. His passenger was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for treatment.

It is undetermined if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident, which remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
