Two Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on US 183 in Leander

Two Killed in Leander Motorcycle Accident on US 183

Leander, Texas (September 9, 2020) – Two people were killed in a hit-and-run crash early Wednesday morning in Leander, according to police.

The fatal crash occurred around 12:20 a.m., on U.S. 183 just north of Bryson Ridge Trail.

Police said a motorcycle was heading northbound on the highway when it was hit by a BMW sedan that had run a red light.

Witnesses said the motorcycle was making a U-turn when it was hit by the sedan.

Two people in the motorcycle, a man in his 40s and a 17-year-old male, were killed in the crash.

The sedan driver left his car at a nearby gas station after the crash and fled the scene on foot.

The crash closed all southbound lanes of the U.S. 183A toll road.

The crash remains under investigation.
