Cortney Smartt Killed, Angela Winn and Daesha Johnson Injured in Valley View Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 35 near Hockley Creek Road

Valley View, Texas (May 11, 2022) – A woman was killed and two other people were injured early Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Valley View, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 1:02 a.m., on May 10, on Interstate 35, near Hockley Creek Road.

DPS said Angela Winn, 73, of Cleburne, was driving an SUV when she was involved in a crash and the vehicle became disabled in the middle of northbound I-35. The SUV was then struck by another car driven by 30-year-old Cortney Smartt, of Haltom.

Winn, Smartt, and a passenger in Smartt’s car, 19-year-old Daesha Johnson, of Gainesville, were taken to North Texas Medical Center with serious injuries where Smartt was later pronounced dead.

The troopers are investigating the crash.
