Carlos Javier Venegas Killed in Cameron County Two-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 4 near Lyndon B Johnson Boulevard

Cameron County, Texas (June 8, 2020) – A San Benito man was killed Sunday morning in a rear-end collision in Cameron County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The fatal crash happened at about 4:18 a.m. June 7, on State Highway 4 near Lyndon B Johnson Boulevard.

DPS said a gray truck tractor semi-trailer was reversing onto a grass portion off the highway when it was rear-ended by a westbound white GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by Carlos Javier Venegas, 36, of San Benito.

Venegas was declared dead at the scene.

Four female passengers in the GMC were taken to Valley Baptist Hospital in Brownsville and Harlingen.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.
