Killeen, Texas – A 58-year-old man was fatally hit by a train Wednesday evening in Killeen, according to the Killeen Police Department.

The deadly accident happened around 7:24 p.m., May 1, in the 100 block of 8th Street. 

Police said a BSNF train was traveling eastbound when the conductor spotted Christine Gerlinde Rottmann, sounded the horn, and engaged the emergency brakes. Rottmann didn’t move and was struck by the train. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other details were provided.

The police are investigating the crash.
