Christopher Martin and Karlye Bayer Injured in Buna Three-Vehicle Crash on FM 1004

Buna, Texas (March 9, 2023) – Two people were injured Wednesday morning in a three-vehicle crash near Buna, according to the Texas DPS.

The crash happened around 9:30 a.m., March 8, on Farm to Market Road 1004 near Antioch Cemetery.

DPS said Christopher Martin, 70, of Silsbee, who is an employee of Pineywoods Sanitation, was driving a Ford pickup truck pulling a lowboy trailer. Martin had stopped the truck and trailer that were partially on the roadway as he was on the trailer unloading trashcans.

Vance Hill, 79, of Buna, was driving a Toyota Tacoma truck when he sideswiped both the lowboy trailer and the Ford truck.

The Ford truck was completely torn off, and it flew into the opposite lane of traffic, where it was struck by a Dodge passenger car driven by Karlye Bayer, 19, of Buna.

Martin was injured when he jumped off the lowboy as it was being hit by the Tacoma truck.

Both Martin and Bayer were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
