Driver Killed in Fort Bend County Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 99 near West Bellfort

Fort Bend County, Texas (March 10, 2020) – One person was killed in a wrong-way crash early Tuesday morning in Richmond, according to the deputies.

The fatal crash happened around 12:20 a.m. on State Highway 99 near West Bellfort.

Deputies said a truck was heading northbound in the southbound lanes at about 90 mph when it collided with a white Chevy sedan.

The sedan driver was killed in the crash.

The wrong-way driver, who might have been intoxicated, was taken to the hospital and was placed in the ICU.

Deputies had been notified of the speeding truck and had attempted to get ahead of it to try to set up stop sticks at South Mason and SH 99, but were unsuccessful.

The Fort Bend County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the crash.
