Clayton Flanigan Injured in Polk County Two-Vehicle Crash

Polk County, Texas (February 14, 2023) – Two people were injured Monday afternoon in a head-on collision in Polk County, according to the authorities.

The crash happened around 12:30 p.m., about 20 miles northwest of Woodville.

Authorities said Clayton Flanigan, 18, of Colmesneil, was driving a 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck when he entered a curve too fast, crossed the center line, and crashed head-on with an 18-wheeler driven by Christopher Lilley, 52, of Nacogdoches.

Firefighters had to use Jaws of Life to free Flanigan from the pickup truck.

Flanigan and his passenger were taken to a Livingston hospital for treatment.

The DPS is investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
