Clifton Gunter, Calvin McClleland Injured in Fatal Crash on Highway 12 in Orange County
Clifton Gunter and Calvin McClleland Hospitalized after Orange County Crash on Highway 12 near State Highway 62
Orange County, Texas (April 6, 2023) – Clifton Gunter, 67, of Orange, and Calvin McClleland, 27, were injured after they were involved in a deadly crash on Thursday evening in Orange County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The wreck occurred at around 5:15 p.m. on Highway 12, approximately one mile east of State Highway 62 in the Mauriceville area.
DPS said June Jones, 47, of Silsbee, was driving a 2021 Dodge passenger car on the eastbound shoulder of Highway 12 and made a U-turn in front of an eastbound 1998 Ford pickup driven by Gunter.
The pickup eventually hit the passenger car on its driver’s side.
Jones was pronounced dead at the scene, while her passenger, McClleland, was taken to a hospital in unknown condition. Gunter was taken to CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital with unspecified injuries.
Further details regarding the collision were immediately provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
