Teresa A. Fawcette Killed in Athens Pedestrian Accident on South Palestine Street (SH 19)

Athens, Texas (January 13, 2021) – A woman was fatally hit by a vehicle Monday night in Athens, a local news source reported.

The deadly accident happened around 7:20 p.m., January 11, in the 400 block of South Palestine Street (State Highway 19).

According to authorities, Teresa A. Fawcette, 60, of Athens, was attempting to cross the roadway when she was struck by a southbound 2009 Ford SUV that was traveling in the center left-turn lane and was attempting to turn left into a private drive.

Fawcette was pronounced dead at the scene.

The SUV driver was uninjured in the crash.

The crash closed a portion of the highway.

The crash remains under investigation.
