Cody Beard and Craig Warrick Killed in Cayuga Two-Vehicle Crash on US 287

Cayuga, Texas (August 15, 2023) – Two people were killed Friday evening in a head-on collision in Cayuga, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 5:18 p.m., August 11, on U.S. 287.

DPS said a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Cody Austin Beard, 23, of Crockett, was traveling eastbound on the highway while a 2021 Ford F250 driven by Craig Morgan Warrick, 36, of Waxahachie, was traveling westbound.

Warrick tried to pass in a no-pass zone and crashed head-on into Beard.

Both vehicles left the roadway and caught fire.

Both Beard and Warrick were pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
