Dameyen Cooper and Two Others Injured in Buna Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 96 

Buna, Texas – Three people were injured Tuesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash north of Buna, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 2:30 p.m., February 20, on Highway 96 at the entrance to Cougar Country.

DPS said Melissa Matthews, 40, of Deweyville, was driving a 2008 Kia passenger car and was trying to enter Cougar Country. He pulled out in front of a southbound 2010 Toyota Camry driven by Dameyen Cooper, 22, of Jasper, and the two cars collided.

Cooper and a passenger were treated at the scene for minor injuries. Another passenger was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

No additional information was available.

The crash remains under investigation.
