Danielle Hooks Killed, Phillip Jarrell and Denver Jarrell Hospitalized after Bleakwood Community Collision on FM 363 near County Road 3510

Bleakwood Community, Texas (June 17, 2023) – The driver of a stolen pickup truck who died in a crash on Sunday morning in the Bleakwood Community has been identified by the Texas Department of Public Safety as 34-year-old Danielle Hooks of Silsbee.

The deadly crash happened just after 5:00 a.m. Sunday, June 11, on Farm to Market Road 363 near County Road 3510.

The DPS said Hooks was driving a 1996 Chevrolet truck eastbound without headlights when he veered into the westbound lane and collided with an oncoming Ford truck driven by Phillip Jarrell, 51, of Burkeville.

The Chevrolet truck had been reported stolen in Kirbyville.

Hooks was pronounced dead at the scene.

Phillip and his passenger, Denver Jarrell, 29, also of Burkeville, were transported to St Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. According to a family member, Denver was treated and released, while Phillip suffered a broken back and required surgery.

No further details were provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
