Darion Rodriguez Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on FM 1764 in Texas City

Texas City, Texas (April 13, 2023) – the bicyclist who died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver early Sunday morning in Texas City has been identified as Darion Rodriguez, 36, of Texas City.

The deadly crash happened shortly after 3:30 a.m. Sunday, April 9, on FM 1764 near State Highway 3.

Rodriguez was riding his bike home on FM 1764 when he was hit by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene.

Rodriguez died in the crash.

Police closed FM 1764 for several hours during the investigation.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Texas City police at 409-643-5720.
