Daryl Edwards Seriously Injured in Houston Two-Vehicle Crash on Westpark Tollway at Dunvale

Houston, Texas (April 12, 2021) – A woman was killed, and four others, including the suspect, were injured early Wednesday morning in a wrong-way crash in Houston, according to the deputies.

The fatal crash happened around 2:00 a.m., April 7, on the Westpark Tollway at Dunvale.

Deputies said Bobby James Brown, 32, was driving a gray Infiniti the wrong way on the tollway when he crashed head-on into a Honda at Dunvale.

A female passenger in the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. She has been identified as Jaelyn “JaeRene” Chapman. 

Two other passengers in the Honda were taken to the hospital with critical injuries. The Honda driver was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

One of the injured victims has been identified as Daryl Edwards. He played for UTEP in 2019-20. A GoFundMe has been set up for him.

Brown also sustained injuries in the crash. He has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.

The crash closed the eastbound lanes of the tollway for several hours but have since been reopened.

The crash remains under investigation.
