Lajuan Rice Killed in Rusk County Car Crash at US-79 and FM 1798
Rusk County, Texas (January 12, 2019) – One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday morning at a Rusk County intersection, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The fatal crash took place at about 7:18 a.m. January 11, in the area of US-79 and FM 1798.
DPS said a 2004 Peterbilt truck tractor towing a semi-trailer, driven by Adrian Ramon Roland, 48, of Jacksonville, was heading northeast on US-79 approaching FM 1798. A 2014 Ford Taurus, driven by Lajuan Fisher Rice, 65, of Henderson was stopped northbound on FM-1798.
Rice then tried to cross US-79 onto SH-42 and entered directly into the path of the truck, resulting in a collision.
Rice died at the scene. Roland was uninjured in the crash.
The DPS is investigating the crash.
