David Gonzalez Arrested after Fatal Leon Valley Crash on Grissom Road

Leon Valley, Texas (June 23, 2019) – The suspect who was involved in a police chase that ended in a fatal traffic accident in Leon Valley Friday morning has been identified as David Gonzalez,18, authorities said.

The deadly accident happened on Grissom Road on Friday, June 21.

According to a local news source, police officers were notified that a car was stolen from a Leon Valley home.

When officers spotted the car and tried to stop it near the intersection of Bandera and Grissom roads, the driver sped off.

The suspect, identified as Gonzalez, crashed into the rear of a couple’s vehicle that was waiting to turn left onto Old Grissom Road, which caused a chain reaction crash. Gonzalez then drifted off and collided head-on with a silver Toyota.

One of the victim drivers was pronounced dead at the scene. His coworker was injured and was transported to University Hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.

Gonzalez and two other people were also transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

Authorities said Gonzalez is facing several felony charges including murder, operating a stolen vehicle, and evading arrest leading to serious bodily injury.

The crash remains under investigation.
