Dean Murphy Killed in Motorcycle Accident on SH 110 in Smith County

61-Year-Old Dean Murphy Killed in Smith County Motorcycle Accident on SH 110 near CR-411

Smith County, Texas (April 17, 2020) – A Lindale man was killed Thursday night in a motorcycle accident in Smith County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The fatal crash occurred around 9:00 p.m. on April 16, on SH 110 N near CR-411.

According to a preliminary investigation, Andrew Wayne Slemp, 37, of Mineola, was driving a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee southbound when he turned left and failed to yield the right of way colliding with a northbound 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle ridden by Dean Murphy, 61, of Lindale.

Murphy was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
