Erick Orta Killed in Hudspeth County Semi-Truck Crash on Interstate 10 

Hudspeth County, Texas (April 1, 2022) – One person was killed Tuesday night in a semi-truck crash in Hudspeth County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened just before 9:30 p.m., March 29, in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10, about five miles west of Sierra Blanca.

DPS said Erick Trejo Orta, 31, of Jocotitlan, Edomex, Mexico, failed to control his speed and rear-ended another semi-truck driven by Jesus Daniel Sanchez, 40, of Perris, California.

Orta was killed in the crash.

Sanchez was treated and released at the scene.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
