David Eide Killed in Motorcycle Crash at Jowell and North Jackson Streets in Jacksonville

David Eide Killed in Jacksonville Motorcycle Crash at Jowell Street and North Jackson Street

Jacksonville, Texas (August 14, 2023) – A man was killed Saturday evening in a motorcycle crash in Jacksonville, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 5:11 p.m., August 12, at the intersection of Jowell and North Jackson Streets.

Police said David V. Eide, Jr., 53, of Rusk, was riding a motorcycle southbound in the 4000 block of North Jackson Street, while Jorge Lopez, 21, of Jacksonville, was traveling eastbound on Jowell Street.

Lopez stopped at the intersection but failed to yield the right of way and was struck by the motorcycle.

Eide was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lopez was uninjured in the crash. He did not appear to be impaired and cooperated with the investigators.

The police are investigating the crash.
