Man Struck, Killed by Semi-Truck on I-40 in Gray County

60-Year-Old Man Killed in Gray County Pedestrian Accident on I-40 near McLean

Gray County, Texas (August 11, 2020) – A 60-year-old man was fatally hit by a semi-truck Monday afternoon in Gray County, according to DPS.

The deadly crash happened around 3:30 p.m., August 10, on Interstate 40, about one mile east of McLean.

DPS said a semi-truck was heading eastbound on the freeway when the driver attempted to pass another eastbound semi-truck.

The man was standing on the shoulder of the freeway, and when the first semi-truck passed him, he ran onto the roadway and was struck by the second semi-truck.

The man was declared dead at the scene.

Troopers said the victim was working at a construction site along the interstate, but the accident didn’t happen within the properly-marked zone.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
