Virgilio Sibayan ID’d as Victim Killed in Lorena Crash on Interstate 35

Lorena, Texas (September 11, 2023) – The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the driver who died following a traffic accident on Saturday evening in Lorena as 65-year-old Virgilio Sibayan.

The deadly crash happened at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, September 9 on Interstate 35.

DPS said a GMC Yukon was traveling on Interstate 35 when the driver suffered a medical episode and lose control of the car around mile marker 325.

The Yukon veered onto the service road, where it struck a Chevrolet Silverado before flipping over

Sibayan who was a passenger in the Yukon died at the scene. The driver and three other passengers of the Yukon were transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

No further details were immediately available.

The crash remains under investigation.
