Devin Lee Custer Killed in Highlands Bicycle Accident on Barbers Hill Road near Madeline Street

Highlands, Texas (October 23, 2019) – A man was killed Monday night in a bicycle accident in east Harris County, according to the authorities.

The crash was reported around 7:00 p.m. on October 21, in the 600 block of Barbers Hill Road near Madeline Street.

Authorities said Devin Lee Custer, 27, and his fiancée were riding their bikes westbound on Barbers Hill Road. Custer heard or saw something and he pushed his fiancée out of the way. Custer was then struck by a westbound 2004 Cadillac Deville driven by Jason Stewart.

Custer was declared dead at the scene. His bike did not have a rear red reflector or any other form of lighting device attached to it. He was not wearing a helmet.

Stewart stayed at the scene.

The Vehicular Crimes Division of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the investigation.
