Driver Hit, Killed by Vehicle on Eastex Freeway in Houston

Man Killed in Houston Pedestrian Accident on Eastex Freeway 

Houston, Texas (May 3, 2023) – A man was fatally hit by a vehicle Tuesday morning after he got out of a burning vehicle in Houston, according to officials.

The deadly accident happened around 5:20 a.m., May 2, in the HOV lane of the Eastex Freeway at Aldine Mail Route Road.

Officials said a driver got out of his vehicle after a car fire in the HOV lane of US-59/I-69 inbound. He was then struck by another vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The driver who hit the man stayed at the scene after the accident.

No other information was available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
