Eliana Shoemate Killed in Killeen Pedestrian Accident on West Elms Road

Killeen, Texas (July 26, 2022) – According to the authorities, a woman was fatally hit by a vehicle Friday afternoon in Killeen.

The deadly accident happened around 1:39 p.m., July 22, in the 1300 Block of West Elms Road.

Authorities said Eliana Leigh Shoemate, 24, was standing on the eastbound sidewalk when she stepped into the roadway, failed to yield the right of way, and was struck by an eastbound vehicle that was traveling in the outside lane.

Shoemate was taken to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in critical condition, where she later died.

The Killeen Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.
