Ernesto DeLeon, Leslie DeLeon and Ashley DeLeon Killed in West Dallas Four-Vehicle Crash at Hampton Road and Singleton Boulevard

Dallas, Texas (May 26, 2020) – The three people who were killed early Monday morning in a suspected DUI crash in West Dallas have been identified as Ernesto DeLeon,47, Leslie DeLeon,19, and Ashley DeLeon,18, according to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The fatal crash happened around 1:35 a.m. May 25, at the intersection of N. Hampton Road and Singleton Boulevard.

Police said 23-year-old Jose Arroyo was driving westbound on Singleton Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he ran a stop sign at the intersection and hit Ernesto’s vehicle, which was traveling southbound on N. Hampton Road.

The impact caused Ernesto’s vehicle to turn counterclockwise and collide with a third vehicle, driven by a 16-year-old boy, which was stopped at the stop sign facing eastbound on Singleton Boulevard.

Ernesto’s vehicle also hit a fourth vehicle, which was also stopped at the red light.

The impact forced the third vehicle off the road.

Ernesto and his passenger, Leslie, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Ashley, who was also a passenger in Ernesto’s vehicle, was taken to the hospital where she later died.

Laura Sanchez-Quiroz,41, who was also a passenger in Ernesto’s car, was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

According to a cousin, Ashley and Leslie DeLeon were the daughters of Ernesto DeLeon and Sanchez-Quiroz.

The 16-year-old was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Arroyo was arrested and is facing three charges of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle. He also faces one charge of intoxication assault with a vehicle.

A GoFundMe Page has been created to help the DeLeon family.

The crash remains under investigation.

We pass our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the DeLeon’s family.

In Texas, a driver is legally intoxicated after consuming alcohol if their blood alcohol content (BAC) is .08% or higher. A driver is also considered intoxicated if they don’t have the normal use of their mental or physical faculties by reason of the introduction of alcohol. Alcohol however is not the only intoxicant, as drivers can become intoxicated by ingesting prescription and illegal drugs such as crack, marijuana, and cocaine.

Regardless of what substance caused the driver’s reaction time to become significantly altered, intoxication by any means can cause terrible accidents and injuries.

Innocent victims harmed by drunk drivers are entitled to compensation for their injuries, including but not limited to medical expenses; lost wages; pain and suffering and mental anguish; physical impairment and disability; and most importantly, punitive damages to deter future conduct. If a death occurred because of a drunk driver, you will want a knowledgeable accident lawyer to bring a wrongful death action against the drunk driver.
