Denton Valley, Texas (August 21, 2021) – One person was killed, and another was injured Tuesday night in a two-vehicle crash, four miles west of Denton Valley, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 8:00 p.m., August 17, on State Highway 36.

DPS said a 2011 Ford pickup was traveling eastbound on the highway while a 2004 Chevy pickup truck was traveling westbound.

The Ford lost traction, went into a spin, and was hit on the left side by the Chevy.

The force of the impact caused the Chevy to catch fire.

The Chevy driver, James Edward Johnson, 78, of Abilene, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ford driver, Robert King, 56, of Clyde, was taken to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, where he was treated and released.

It was raining at the time of the crash, causing the roadway to be slick.

The authorities are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
