Four Killed in Leon County Plane Crash near Hilltop Lakes Stables

Leon County, Texas (September 20, 2020) – Four people were killed in a plane crash Sunday morning in Leon County, according to authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 10:45 a.m., near Hilltop Lakes stables.

DPS said the plane took off near Austin and was heading to Louisiana when it started to have engine issues. The pilot attempted to make an emergency landing at Hilltop Lakes Airport, but the plane crashed near Hilltop Lakes stables.

The pilot had reported to the FAA that the plane was having engine problems before the crash, officials said.

No other information was provided.

An investigation is underway.
