Frankie Torres Killed in Hamilton Two-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 36

Hamilton, Texas (October 11, 2023) – One person was killed on Thursday in a two-vehicle crash near Hamilton, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened on October 5, on State Highway 36.

DPS said a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling westbound on the highway when it left the roadway, and the driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to lose control. It crossed into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a 2022 Ford F-350 pickup truck pulling a horse trailer.

Both vehicles came to a stop in a ditch on the south side of the highway.

The Chevrolet driver, 51-year-old Frankie Torres, of Manor, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ford driver, a 20-year-old man from Jourdanton, was taken to a nearby hospital and has since been released.

The DPS troopers are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
