Gina Wilhoit Injured in Fatal Crash on Interstate 45 in Harris County

Gina Wilhoit Hospitalized after Harris County Crash on Interstate 45 near FM 1960

Harris County, Texas (April 25, 2023) – Gina Wilhoit was injured after being involved in a deadly crash on Thursday morning in Harris County, authorities said.

The crash happened at around 9:14 a.m. Thursday, April 20, in the 17000 block of North Interstate 45 near FM 1960.

Hector Cervantes reportedly parked his commercial truck-tractor and trailer in the right lane of the service road on North Interstate 45. Wilhoit was driving a 2008 Hyundai Azera northbound on North Interstate 45.

Cervantes had just loaded a large industrial lift onto the back of his trailer and was securing it. He was standing on the side of the trailer near the back when Wilhoit swerved into the right lane where Cervantes’s truck trailer was.

Wilhoit drove onto the back of the trailer and slammed into the industrial lift and Cervantes, who was still standing on the back of the trailer.

Cervantes was pronounced dead at the scene.  Wilhoit was transported to Northwest Hospital in unknown condition.

It remains unclear whether intoxication or distracted played a role in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
