Glenn Mark Shirley Hit, Killed by Vehicle on Highway 114 in Hockley County

Glenn Mark Shirley Killed in Hockley County Pedestrian Accident on Highway 114

Hockley County, Texas (July 3, 2020) – The man who was struck and killed by a vehicle early Thursday morning in Hockley County has been identified as 33-year-old Glenn Mark Shirley, according to DPS.

The deadly accident happened on July 2, on Highway 114, about two miles from Opdyke West.

DPS said Shirley’s 2007 Chevy Silverado had broken down on the eastbound shoulder of the highway, and he was transferring items to a waiting vehicle.

Shirley stepped onto the roadway and was hit by a 2003 Ford F350 pickup truck. He was declared dead at the scene.

The waiting vehicle next to Shirley’s truck fled the scene.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
