Hazel Thompson Killed in Winkler County Multi-Vehicle Crash on SH 302
Winkler County, Texas (February 10, 2021) – A 9-year-old girl was killed in a multi-vehicle crash Monday evening in Winkler County, west of Kermit, according to troopers.
The fatal crash happened around 5:30 p.m., February 8, on State Highway 302.
DPS said a truck-tractor was traveling eastbound on the highway when it failed to control its speed and rear-ended a vehicle, resulting in a chain-reaction crash.
Hazel Thompson, 9, was killed in the crash.
The driver and a passenger in one of the vehicles were taken to Winkler County Hospital for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation.
