Ian Chandler Injured in Motorcycle Accident on Texas 62 in Mauriceville

Ian Chandler ID’d as Motorcyclist Injured in Mauriceville Crash on Texas Highway 62 at FM2802

Mauriceville, Texas (February 13, 2023) – The motorcyclist who was injured on Friday evening in a traffic crash in Mauriceville has been identified by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Ian Chandler, 20, of Mauriceville, was seriously injured in a crash that happened just before 6:30 p.m. Friday, February 10, on Texas 62 at FM2802.

DPS said Chandler was riding a 1984 Honda VT700 motorcycle southbound on Texas 62 while a 2009 Nissan Altima was traveling northbound.

The Altima turned left into the path of the motorcycle at the FM2802 intersection. The motorcycle hit the passenger side of the Nissan, which then hit a 2013 Toyota Tacoma that was at the intersection.

The driver of the Nissan failed to yield the right of way to the motorcycle, DPS said.

Ian Chandler was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston with serious injuries. The driver and a passenger in the Nissan were transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont with minor injuries.

The driver of the Toyota was not injured in the crash.

DPS is investigating the crash.
