Jake Rempel Killed, James Christy Injured in Lamar County Tractor Crash on U.S. 82

Lamar County, Texas (February 26, 2022) – One person was killed, and another was injured Tuesday night in a tractor crash in Lamar County, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 9:00 p.m., February 22, in the 15000 block of Highway 82 West, about three miles east of Petty.

Authorities said a 2021 Chevrolet 2500 was traveling westbound on the highway when it rear-ended a westbound Mahindra 8000 Tractor.

The tractor driver, 38-year-old Jake Rempel, of Honey Grove, was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Chevrolet driver, James Christy, 35 of Honey Grove, sustained non-incapacitating injuries in the crash.

No other details were provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
