James Morgan Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on I-20 in Smith County

James Morgan Killed in Smith County Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 20

Smith County, Texas (January 4, 2022) – A man was killed Saturday night in a wrong-way crash in Smith County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 9:00 p.m., January 1, on Interstate 20, about four miles west of Lindale.

DPS said James F. Morgan, 36, of Shamrock, was driving a pickup truck westbound in the eastbound lanes of the interstate when he crashed head-on into a tractor-trailer.

Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Manveer S. Brar, 24, of Bakersfield, California, was treated and released at the scene.

An investigation is underway.
