James Nash, Carole Martin Killed in Head-On Crash on Hwy 21 in Madison County

James Nash and Carole Martin Killed in Madison County Three-Vehicle Crash on Highway 21 near North Zulch

Madison County, Texas (December 6, 2022) – Two people were killed on Monday in a head-on collision in Madison County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened on December 5, on Highway 21, west of North Zulch, between FM 2865 and Highway 39.

DPS said a 2014 Nissan pickup and a 2015 Freightliner 18-wheeler were traveling eastbound on the highway while a 2012 Buick SUV was traveling westbound.

The Nissan attempted to pass the 18-wheeler in a no-passing zone and crashed head-on into the Buick before hitting the 18-wheeler and catching fire.

The Nissan driver, 81-year-old James Nash of Leona, and the Buick driver, 76-year-old Carole Martin of Normangee, were killed in the crash.

The 18-wheeler driver was uninjured in the crash.

The troopers are investigating the crash.
