James Taylor Bourgeois Killed in Pedestrian Accident on S. Congress Avenue in Austin

James Taylor Bourgeois ID’d as Pedestrian Killed in Austin Crash on S. Congress Avenue near Stassney Lane
Austin, Texas (April 23, 2019) – The pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle last week Wednesday in south Austin has been identified as James Taylor Bourgeois, 55, according to authorities.
The tragic accident took place just before 1:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 17 in the 5600 block of S. Congress Avenue near Stassney Lane.
Authorities said Bourgeois was walking across mid-block from westbound to eastbound approximately 150 feet from a controlled crosswalk when a Chevrolet pickup truck got ready to move from the far right lane to the turn lane to head east on Stassney Lane.
The truck driver did not see Bourgeois and hit him.
Bourgeois was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck stopped at the scene and complied with investigators.
Neither alcohol nor drugs were considered factors in the accident.
