Jared Jones Killed in Car Crash on US 67 in Upton County

Jared Jones Killed in Upton County Two-Vehicle Crash on US 67 at County Road 220

Upton County, Texas (July 15, 2023) – According to the Texas DPS, a man was killed Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Upton County.

The fatal crash happened around 6:00 a.m., July 12, on US 67 and County Road 220, about 1.9 miles east of Rankin.

DPS said 35-year-old Jared Anthony Jones, of Big Lake, was driving a Ford F-350 westbound on US 67 when he failed to yield to a semi-truck and trailer that had slowed to make a left turn onto CR 220 and crashed into the rear of the trailer.

Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.

The semi-truck driver, a 59-year-old San Angelo man, was uninjured in the crash.

The DPS troopers are investigating the crash.
