Jeffrey Richardson Killed in Austin Pedestrian Accident on MoPac near The Domain; Lindsay Smith Arrested

Austin, Texas (June 30, 2022) – An off-duty police officer was fatally hit by a vehicle early Wednesday morning in Austin, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened around 2:15 a.m., June 29, in the northbound service road of MoPac near Domain Boulevard.

Police said Jeffrey Richardson, 35, of the Poteet Police Department, was working traffic duty at a construction zone near The Domain when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Lindsay Smith, 26.

Richardson was taken to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, where he later died.

Smith was arrested and charged with intoxication assault. She was taken to Travis County jail, and her bond was set at $250,000.

The police are investigating the crash.
