John Michael Harvey Jr., Killed in Gregg County Car Crash on Interstate 20

Gregg County, Texas (March 15, 2021) – The driver who was killed last month in a car crash in Gregg County has been identified as 18-year-old John Michael Harvey, Jr. of Franklin, Tennessee, according to DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 1:16 a.m., February 1, on Interstate 20 near mile marker 584.

DPS said Harvey was driving a Ford Explorer eastbound on the interstate when, for unknown reasons, he drifted off the pavement to the northbound side. Harvey then steered hard to the right, crossed both eastbound lanes, overcorrected to the left, and the Ford went into a side skid and rolled over, ejecting him.

A Volvo truck-tractor towing a semi-trailer driven by Timothy Ingalls, 58, of Bossier City, Louisiana, then struck the Ford on the roadway.

Harvey was killed in the crash.

An investigation is underway.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
