Jose M. Moreno Killed in Rear-End Crash on Loop 1604 in San Antonio

30-Year-Old Jose M. Moreno Killed in San Antonio Two-Vehicle Crash on Loop 1604 near Wiseman Boulevard

San Antonio, Texas (March 28, 2020) – The man who was killed Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler in San Antonio’s far West Side has been identified as Jose M. Moreno, 30, according to the police.

The fatal crash took place around 6:30 a.m. March 27, in the southbound access road of Loop 1604 near the Wiseman Boulevard exit.

Police said Moreno was driving a pickup truck at a high rate of speed when he rear-ended an 18-wheeler. The big rig was parked on the side of the access road with its hazard lights on. The pickup truck became wedged under the semi-truck.

Moreno’s cell phone was reportedly actively playing a video on YouTube as first responders rendered lifesaving measures. He was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured in the crash.

Investigators said distracted driving was a factor in the crash.

The crash closed the Wiseman Boulevard exit from Loop 1604 southbound and two lanes of the access road for several hours.

The crash remains under investigation.

We pass our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Jose M. Moreno.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
