Center, Texas (November 15, 2023) – A Center Police Department officer was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon following a two-vehicle traffic collision on Nacogdoches Street, according to a police report.

The crash happened at about 2:54 p.m. on November 14 on eastbound State Highway 7.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), a Center Police Department was traveling eastbound in the outside lane of Nacogdoches Street (State Highway 7). At the same time, a utility truck was eastbound in the inside lane of the highway.

DPS said the police vehicle made a U-turn from the outside lane and collided with the truck. The impact sent both vehicles into the westbound ditch where the truck landed on its passenger side and the police vehicle crashed through a wall.

The police officer was taken to Nacogdoches Medical Center for possible injury.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
