Joseph Jaggernauth Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Highway 31 in Smith County

Joseph Jaggernauth ID’d as Pedestrian Killed in Smith County Accident on Highway 31 East near Tyler
Smith County, Texas (May 27, 2019) – The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified Joseph J. Jaggernauth, 29, of Tyler as the person who was struck and killed by a vehicle Sunday morning in Smith County.
The deadly pedestrian accident was reported at around 11:07 a.m. Sunday, May 26 on Highway 31 East, approximately two miles east of Tyler.
According to DPS, Jaggernauth was walking on the shoulder of the eastbound lane of Highway 31 East when for as of yet to be determined reason,  he jumped into the path of a 2016 Nissan Frontier operated by Taran Walker Gaston, 27, of Big Sandy.
Jaggernauth was taken to a Tyler hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His body was transported to Lighthouse Mortuary in Tyler.
Gaston was uninjured in the wreck.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
