Joseph Roczniak Killed in Car Accident on Interstate 20 in Howard County

Joseph Roczniak ID’d as Man Killed in Howard County Crash on Interstate 20 near Big Spring

Howard County, Texas (July 16, 2019) – The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the man who was killed Wednesday evening in a multi-vehicle crash in Howard County.

Joseph Roczniak, of Odessa, died in the accident that happened at about 5:32 p.m. Wednesday, July 10 on Interstate 20, about 10 miles west of Big Spring.

According to the DPS, Randall Beard was driving a semi-truck westbound on Interstate 20 when they failed to control their speed and collided with Volkswagen Jetta operated by Devin Grier, of Seminole.

The semi continued and hit a Kia Rio driven by Roczniak. The force of the impact pushed the Kia into a Dodge Ram pickup. The semi then drifted across the center divider of Interstate 20 and collided with another semi-truck that was being driven eastbound by Randall Beard.

Roczniak was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Grier and Beard were transported to Scenic Mountain Medical Center with unspecified injuries.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
