Josephine Guerra Killed in Car Accident on Montopolis Drive in Austin

Josephine Guerra ID’d as Woman Killed in Austin Crash on Montopolis Drive near Burleson Road

Austin, Texas (August 19, 2019) – The woman who was killed early Friday morning in a traffic accident in southeast Austin has been identified as Josephine Guerra, 27, according to the Austin Police Department.

The deadly accident happened at about 5:00 a.m. Friday, August 16 in the 3500 block of Montopolis Drive near Burleson Road.

Police said a silver Chevy Malibu and a red Chevy Tahoe were both traveling at a high rate of speed when for an unknown reason,  the Tahoe rear-ended the other vehicle.

As a result of the crash, the driver of the Tahoe lost control of the vehicle and veered off the roadway.  The Tahoe then spun and hit bushes on the LCRA property on Montopolis before slamming into a tree.

Guerra was ejected from the vehicle upon the impact. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Tahoe driver and two other passengers fled the scene on foot. The driver of the Malibu stopped at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement officers.
