Joyce Cawis ID’d as Woman Killed in Garland Hit-and-Run Car Crash at Jupiter Road and Forest Lane; Edgar Alfonso Ugalde Wanted

Garland, Texas (November 19, 2019) – The driver who was involved in a hit-and-run car crash that killed Joyce Cawis,46, of Rowlett, on Thursday has been identified as Edgar Alfonso Ugalde, 27, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 11:45 p.m. November 14, in the area of Jupiter Road and Forest Lane.

Police said a black Dodge Ram Big Horn pickup was speeding northbound on Jupiter Road when it struck a Toyota 4Runner, which was heading westbound on Forest Lane.

The 4Runner driver, Cawis, had to be extricated from her vehicle and was taken to the hospital where she later died.

According to witnesses, the Dodge driver, Ugalde, abandoned the wrecked quad-cab pickup, got into a black, and fled the scene.

Ugalde is wanted for failure to stop and render aid.
