Kaleb Hamby and Gabriel Webb Killed in Panola County Three-Vehicle Crash on SH 315 at CR 106

Panola County, Texas (December 14, 2021) – Two people were killed, and two others were injured Saturday morning in a three-vehicle crash in Panola County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 5:22 a.m., December 11, at the intersection of State Highway 315 and County Road 106, three miles east of Carthage.

DPS said a semi-truck towing a trailer was traveling westbound on SH 315 and was approaching CR 106, while a second semi-truck also towing a trailer was stopped on SH 315 waiting to turn left onto CR 106. A Toyota Tundra was waiting behind the second semi-truck.

The driver of the first semi-truck failed to control their speed and crashed into the Tundra. The force of the impact caused the Tundra to hit the trailer that was being towed by the second semi-truck and catch fire.

The Tundra driver and passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. They have been identified as Kaleb Hamby, 34, of Haughton, LA, and Gabriel Webb, 28, of Haughton, LA.

The drivers of both semi-trucks were taken to UT Health East Texas – Carthage in stable condition.

The troopers are investigating the crash.

We pass our condolences to the family and friends of Kaleb Hamby and Gabriel Webb. We also wish the injured victims quick recoveries.

Commercial trucks are known to cause over 90% of accidents in Houston. These truck drivers must understand that their actions majorly contribute to most of the accidents on the roads. It is also important for others on the same roads with truck drivers to understand that maximum precaution should be taken while driving near trucks. While small mistakes like ignoring the turn signal prior to turning may cause accidents, major causes of these accidents are rooted in other factors like exhaustion on the part of truck drivers. If the reasons for the crash are anchored to the failure of following the right turn or driving at a speed that is not legally recommended, a personal injury lawyer or a wrongful death lawyer will be useful in such scenarios.

If you have lost a loved one in an accident with a huge truck, it is advisable to get a lawyer who will facilitate the process of compensation.
